Here we are with the hard-eight birthday (perhaps the only time you'll heard the terms 'hard' and 'eight' associated with me...ahem). Got up at the crack of fucking dawn for a good cause. My Rotary club, another club and a local Kiwanis club took 25 underprivileged kids back-t0-school shopping. The clubs kicked in about $2500, the store matched it and gave us huge discounts. Each kid was given $220 (after the discounts, etc). The boy I took is about the same age as the HB, but a LOT bigger. He was shy/tired at first, but warmed up to the whole thing. He lives with his mom and dad, 4 sisters and a nephew. His oldest sister is 28 (sorpresa!).
A bunch of us are off to the Angels vs. Tigers game, which will be a ton of fun. Tomorrow will be the official family party at my m-i-l's. Last, but not least, my wife got us tickets to see Godsmack on Tuesday night. That will be awesome.
